Life Lines

Ink and colored pencil
2016 - 2019

When I make the time to sit and create one of these drawings every day I realize the importance of reflecting. This project pulls out the sweet moments in demanding days. It points out how grateful I should be. And it allows me to slow down. Unlike making a photograph every day then checking it off a list, this daily project requires an inward thinking, use of memory, and patience.

To challenge myself, I started making little daily doodles in the later half of 2016. They documented a particular event that happened that day. As time moved on it became harder to make these doodles every day. Then in late 2017 I approached the project again... and again they fizzled out. Another year passed but this time with dedication. In October of 2018 the doodles became 3" x 3" and were drawn in a dedicated sketchbook, which continued until December 31, 2019.
